Travel information & Visas

International flights arrive directly to Carrasco International Airport located 45 minutes outside the center of the city. The University can hire a reliable taxi service to pick you up at the airport upon request.

Another option is to fly into Buenos Aires and take the boat across the River Plate to Montevideo. Different ferry companies offer a bus-boat service between Montevideo and Buenos Aires.

The University is fifteen minutes away from Tres Cruces Bus Terminal where all long-distance coaches and buses serve many destinations in South America daily.

Before coming to Uruguay, visit the website of the Oficina Nacional de Migración to find out if you require a visa to enter Uruguay. If you live in a visa-required country, you must contact the Uruguayan Embassy in your home country.

Citizens from countries, which do not require an entry visa, may enter Uruguay on a three-month tourist visa. This type of visa is issued upon arrival at the airport and at the port of Montevideo and is renewable for 90 days.

If you are planning to stay for one year or more, you can request a temporary residence permit at the Oficina Nacional de Migración:
